TranSwap this week partnered with local charity organisation, Social Health Growth to organise a fun-filled afternoon for children from low-income and vulnerable families. Held on 15 December 2020 with the theme ‘Empowering Growth’, the event aimed at empowering disadvantaged children to reach their full potential and excel in school by providing them with the essential tools for learning.
More than 40 children aged between 3 and 15 years old came together and enjoyed an afternoon of games and activities, including a financial literacy workshop “Learning about Money”. Hosted by volunteer trainers, the workshop focused on teaching them about the importance of saving money, and how to budget wisely and spend prudently. Refreshments sponsored by Polar Puffs & Cakes were also served.
At the end of the event, TranSwap presented each child with a care package, containing a water bottle, stationery and other school essentials sponsored by their corporate customers and partners, including a Polar Puffs & Cakes gift voucher.
“We are grateful to Polar Puffs & Cakes, and our corporate customers and partners, for their generous support of our community outreach programme together with Social Health Growth. Their donation provides for the educational needs of the underprivileged children, ensuring that they get to start the first day of school in 2021 with the essential tools for learning. By providing children in need with new school supplies, we hope this would not only help them feel confident and prepared to succeed academically, but also take pride in their work,” said Mr. Lim Kien Leong, co-founder and Chief Legal Officer of TranSwap.
Vice-Chairman of Social Health Growth, Nellie Chua, said, “It has been a pleasure working together with TranSwap to provide the children with the tools and skills to excel in school. We thank the organisers for their goodwill and generosity. A lot of effort certainly went into putting this event together.”
Theoutreach programme follows the launch of TranSwap’s e-remittance service foremployers to help foreign domestic workers digitally send money back to their families, as well as the distribution of care packages to express their support and appreciation for migrant workers – underlining the company’s commitment to the community and mission to help the underserved.
Commenting on TranSwap’s CSR efforts, Mr. Benjamin Wong, co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of TranSwap, added, “TranSwap’s mission has always been to help communities thrive by serving and supporting individuals and businesses. Tapping on Fintech to provide businesses with a cost-effective and efficient cross-border payments platform, TranSwap continuously seeks to help underserved SMEs overcome the barriers to internationalisation by reducing FX costs and streamlining the fund transfer process. This not only underlines our long-standing commitment to the community, but a cornerstone of our culture where TranSwap has fostered an environment of helping others by engaging our staff with our outreach programmes or providing them with opportunities to give back in many ways. 2021 is set to be an exciting year for us, with plans to continue expanding our footprints and engage more with the community.”
